Welcome to the website of Sharif, male belly dancer from Santa Cruz, CA!

In September 2004 I reluctantly went to my first belly dance class, and received a very warm welcome by the local belly dance community. I have now performed publicly several dozen times, and I am really enjoying it! You can read and see all the details in my dance blog and pictures. Also, have a look at my performance video or the TV commercial I did in 2006, and read answers to frequently asked questions. Because belly dance is an uncommon activity for males in the US, I created this website to describe my adventures in the world of sequins and zills. I hope my story is useful to aspiring dancers and makes people more comfortable with male dancing. Please remember that much on this site is my personal opinion.

Most importantly, enjoy dancing, be it as a performer or in the audience!
